Fonte del Giglio is a beautiful medieval structure that forms a courtyard overlooking a beautiful, extremely private and intimate garden. It is located in a strategic position for visiting the surrounding areas and the most important centers of Umbria.
WARMING UP OUR MUSCLES – CYCLING ALONG THE TEVERE RIVER
Starting from the facility, we will follow the Tiber cycle path northwards toward Città di Castello, pedaling on a white gravel road. It’s a relaxing, traffic-free route shaded by trees, with the natural Tevere always by our side. It’s not uncommon to spot characteristic bird species like herons, egrets, and night herons in this natural environment, surrounded by riparian flora, including poplars, willows, alders, and robinias. Along the way, the Spada Lakes Natural Park is well worth a visit. This protected reserve has environmental and educational goals, recovering a former extraction area along the river. Today it is equipped with birdwatching stations and an educational trail with explanatory panels to help identify various species.
Birdwatching enthusiasts? This is the place for you!
We continue cycling to reach Città di Castello, where we’ll enjoy a lunch break in one of the Upper Tiber Valley’s most important cultural centers. Return to the facility by transfer.
CYCLING IN MTB
The route is in the Pietralunga area, on the other side of the Tiber Valley, in the Umbrian-Marche Apennines. The departure is from the La Cerqua agritourism, which provides rental services for e-MTBs or standard mountain bikes. The loop, which can vary in difficulty, winds through the magical woods of Pietralunga, featuring ancient oaks and beeches. Along a more open section, the views are stunning. The route is provided as downloadable GPX tracks. At the end, enjoy a BIO menu lunch at the agritourism.
CYCLING AROUND THE LAKE
A loop route around Lake Trasimeno, following the cycle path with short stretches on secondary paved roads. The loop is about 58 km long and almost entirely flat. It’s an active and fun way to explore the lake environment. Alternatively, you can complete only part of the loop and add a detour to the hilly areas surrounding the lake to enjoy breathtaking views of the water.
CYCLING TO DISCOVER MONTE ACUTO
A stunning itinerary passing through remarkable points of interest such as the Abbey of Monte Corona and the medieval village of Santa Giuliana, a perfectly preserved gem nestled in nature. With our bikes, we enter the Monte Acuto Park, pedaling around its base. For those feeling adventurous, there’s an option to reach the summit and enjoy an incredible 360° view!
