Journey into the Heart of Umbria

Umbriagreenholiday.it is promoted by the Journey into the Heart of Umbria network, an association of businesses that includes agritourisms, farms, and rural tourism operators. This project promotes a new way to explore the region, focused on enhancing and rediscovering the area’s often lesser-known but highly valuable natural attractions and environmental heritage, including natural parks and the Natura 2000 network. Together, these create a true open-air park, showcasing the area’s regional food and wine, as well as the charming villages and cultural treasures that define Umbria. The facilities within Journey into the Heart of Umbria offer a mindful, sustainable tourism experience in the protected areas of the region’s rural landscapes. Each business in the network maintains a close relationship with the surrounding land, integrating economic activity with environmental conservation and tourism promotion in a sustainable and inclusive way. Our goal is to provide guests with a tourism experience that not only offers traditional services but also emphasizes nature trails, tourist attractions, natural points of interest, and services that support outdoor activities—from trekking and cycling to environmental education and horseback riding—all with the aim of preserving and enhancing the area’s natural resources. The initiatives, events, travel packages, and services offered align with this philosophy, promoting a way of experiencing the region’s natural beauty that encourages managers, tourists, and occasional visitors to contribute to the conservation and sustainable development of the surrounding rural areas. The project has been made possible through co-funding from the Rural Development Plan for Umbria 2014-2020, via intervention 16.3.3, which provides concrete community support for network-based entrepreneurial initiatives that aim to enhance natural resources.
